Brian Wilson Performs Pet Sounds Hollywood Bowl 2016
Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys’ co-founder and genius behind the ’60s sound of America, returns to the Hollywood Bowl stage for the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds. The mythical masterpiece and greatest hits will come to life with fellow members Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin and the sun-swept harmonies of songs like “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” and “God Only Knows” that influenced The Beatles, Radiohead, and David Bowie. Portland-based singer/songwriter/producer and multi-instrumentalist M. Ward celebrates his latest release, More Rain.
“It’s really been a trip to sit here and think about releasing Pet Sounds 50 years ago,” he said in a statement. “I love performing this album with my band and look forward to playing it for fans all across the world.” Pet Sounds is one of the most influential albums ever made, ranking Number Two on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Wilson was honored last year with the L.A. tribute concert Brian Fest, which featured acts like the Flaming Lips, Norah Jones and Kesha performing some of Wilson’s most famous compositions. The Beach Boys legend was also the subject of Bill Pohlad’s acclaimed 2015 biopic Love & Mercy.
